Strep Throat and Antibiotics
Strep Throat is one of the progressions of a normal cold. As the cold progresses, the strep throat virus can often advance into the top of the throat and into the tonsil area. Your tonsils will feel “pregnant” with water and attempting to cough or swallow will be excruciating. Also, little white spots where the infection is being fought in the back of your throat will begin to appear. These spots are also very painful and eating can be difficult. Accompanied with strep throat is a nasty fever as the body attempts to fight off these terrible invaders. This condition can become dangerous if it transfers to toddlers and infants, so much caution is needed so the virus does not transfer to the little ones in your life. In many cases, doctors will prescribe antibiotics such as Azithromyacin packs and Levaquin, which are very powerful. They can be extremely pricy and if not taken correctly, can produce super viruses that end up antibiotic resistant.
Symptoms and Difficulties
Strep Throat symptoms will start out as a normal cold. In fact, most cases, strep is actually just a normal cold that migrated to the top of the throat, just under or around the tonsil area. If the cold was fought properly, the strep might have never taken a foothold. So the clever use of preventive action during a cold will lessen the chances of strep ever occurring. These methods are doing things like taking lots of zinc and vitamin C to speed up and fortify your body’s natural defenses.
The vitamin C needs to be administered naturally however. If taken in pill form, the body will simply reject most of it and pass it through the urine. But if taken through a juice that has naturally metabolized it from the fruit, your body will absorb all the nutrients from the fruit including the vitamin C. There are many juices on the market that are organic and will do the job effectively.
There is not really a cure for strep, only fortifying your body’s natural defenses will assist you in defeating this painful virus.
We mentioned before about taking vitamin C and zinc to combat the virus, but there are also many other remedies that can assist you in lessening the symptoms of step throat.
One of the major ways of combating the disease is through gargling salt water. This method is time tested and even recommended by older generations of pharmacists. The brine (saltwater) automatically has a soothing property to it. Salt is a natural bacteria killer, so when the brine comes into contact with the back of your throat, several things happen. The first is that it kills the surface bacteria that have settled on the back of your throat. Not only does it wash away the problem, it kills the problem. Also, the brine naturally saps other bits of water bloating in your tonsils. It will automatically reduce the swelling, which is the most painful part of strep throat.
