Sinusitis

Hard To Breathe

Sinusitis is one of the biggest problems associate with breathing, especially in the US and other industrialized nations. Sinusitis, otherwise known as a sinus infection, is responsible for 12 million hospital visits last year and the reason for more than 200,000 surgeries.  Sinusitis is more prevalent during cold season and allergy season as these two ailments tend to set off sinusitis flares.  This particular problem can cause serious breathing problems.  As we often say here on Natural-Cures1.com, if you have a problem where your life is being immediately threatened, go to the ER.  After you are in a stable enough position to heal, then it is purely ok and acceptable to leave the hospital and continue with your healing process with cures you can find on this site.

What are the main causes?

Sinusitis can flare because of many factors and it tends to be a combination of these factors.  There are actually two types of sinusitis.  There is chronic sinusitis and acute sinusitis.

Chronic sinusitis is the kind that may recede, but never actually goes away.  It is in this case, that the smallest of factors can trigger a flare.  Second hand smoke, too much pollution, a small cold, and many other factors can be to blame.

Acute sinusitis takes a more extreme scenario to develop in someone who does not already care that particular ailment.  A really harsh cold, or prolonged time in polluted and unhealthy breathing environments can cause this.  It is important to note that not only second hand and first hand smoke can dramatically increase the risk, but pollution alone has begun to take its toll, as there was a recent massive increase in sinusitis cases over the last five years.

The Cures

Sinusitis can be fought without the use of harmful antibiotics or steroids.  Many of these “fixes” only treat the symptoms temporarily.

Sitting in a steamy bathroom with lavender, eucalyptus, lemon, and pine aromatherapy can naturally alleviate symptoms, but more importantly, treat the infection.

Drink plenty of filtered water, as keeping up fluids will increase your body’s ability to deliver necessary anti-bodies to the infection.  Also, adding lemon and some cayenne pepper into the water will allow for healing of the sinus area.  Drink plenty of natural juices and drink lots of hot soups with organically grown, free-range chicken broth.  This broth will increase your intake of zinc, which increases your body’s immune system.

Eating onion, garlic, chili peppers, and cayenne peppers often will assist in the fact that these foods naturally dilate nasal passage ways, as well as they are very rich in much needed vitamin C and D.

Most importantly, it is important to relax and allow your body to naturally heal.  Stress takes a terrible toll on the immune system, so do your best to take the day off, get plenty of sleep, and work on breathing exercises that will help your mind heal, but also allow for your body to heal.  Breathing exercises have been known to reduce inflammation, so make sure to breathe.
