Psoriasis

Ditch the Itch

That red, itchy, flaky, and sometimes painful patch of skin on your legs might just be psoriasis.  Psoriasis occurs when the body cannot deliver proper amounts of moisture where it needs it most on the skin.  The skin then reacts by becoming inflamed, and beginning to cause pain.  The body then naturally rushes the necessary nutrients to that patch of skin; however, it will develop chronic itching and inflammation due to the low amounts of the necessary nutrients associated with keeping the skin healthy.  Psoriasis often occurs because of drugs, such as beta-blockers and lithium.  Often times, psoriasis is directly mentioned as one of the main side effects to some very mainstream and often used drugs.  So it is very important to check the side affects of the prescription and non-prescription drugs you happen to be on at the time.  Also, talk to your doctor about possibly switching your medication or even stopping that medication altogether and moving to natural remedies to begin confronting health problems.

Another main cause can be a vitamin b deficiency, as well as low levels of hydrochloric acid and other digestive enzymes necessary for absorbing nutrients from food.  As we have said many times before, the problem is not only environmental, but also a diet issue may be the culprit.

Stress is another massive leading factor in a psoriasis flare due to the oils that are produced when an individual becomes stressed.  This also occurs with acne, as there may be some sort of correlation between these two ailments.

How to cure this naturally…

There are many ways to cure this ailment naturally; however depending on the severity of your case; you may be forced to change much of your lifestyle and diet.  It is these two factors that may be the exact problem.  As we mentioned before, often times, psoriasis is caused by specific factors of the diet, such as low levels of vitamin b and omega 3 fatty acids.  These two supplements can be readily acquired in pill form, but it is always much more effective if they are absorbed naturally through the food.  Wild caught fish are loaded with Omega 3’s as well as magnesium.  Venison is also an excellent option as an alternative to red meats.

One of the major problems is that there are low levels of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which helps digest food properly.  One of the problems may be if you’re on ant-acids.  It is important to get the stomach back to normal levels, so stop taking these medications, as they may be the very cause of your psoriasis.

Lavender is an excellent source of relief from itching symptoms, so feel free to use this herb as aromatherapy.  Also, the Aloe Vera plant has natural healing properties that may help with some of the flaking that occurs.

It is also important to distress.  As we said in this article, stress often causes acne; which is very similar to psoriasis.  Simply relaxing may be just the cure you need to beat this problem.
