You will need to increase your diet of fish, however farmed fish can be loaded with antibiotics and other hormones. Also, canned tuna often contains high amounts of mercury and other toxins. The best is natural, wild, unprocessed fish for meat. Do your best to stay away from red meats, but if you do eat a red meat, lamb would be an excellent choice. These certain meats are generally lower in bad fats and cholesterols.
Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and as organic as you can make it or as your budget will allow. Do your best to stay away from canned vegetables as they have a tendency to be high in sodium. Fresh, organic vegetables would be your best choice. Also, a good, but limited, intake of fresh dairy products is a great idea and can provide filling alternatives, yet relatively low in high fats and cholesterol. Make sure it is not chalked full of preservatives, as those will have an adverse affect on your overall health.
Drink pure, filtered water when you can. Sometimes this may not be a practical solution, but anytime you can filter toxic fluoride and mercury out of the water is always positive to your health.

Raw Garlic is another helpful way to minimize your risk of hypertension. Garlic has been proven to reduce cholesterol and triglycerides, as these are directly linked to heart attack and stroke. Eating a raw clove of garlic once a day will dramatically reduce these harmful elements in the body, lowering your hypertension. If you are worried about body odor associated with raw garlic cloves, extracts are acceptable to use, as well as cooking the garlic in the oven will not take away any important aspects of the Garlic.
