What Causes Headaches?

Headaches have a plethora of different causes, as it is such a broad subject.  While headaches are only located at the forehead or the back of the head, there are many issues associated with the occurrence of these most painful bouts.

Some of the most common causes of headaches are allergies.  Allergies tend to have an affect that rushes the body’s natural defenses to where ever these substances are needed at the time.  When this occurs, often blood vessels dilate and histamine is rushed to the various parts of the body.  When this dilation occurs, the smaller, more sensitive blood vessels in the head react in pain, causing the heading.  Also, headaches can be caused by sleep problems and stress.  These two issues also tend to rush blood to the head and cause blood vessels to dilate.  Among other headaches you can find are migraines and trauma headaches.  These two types are also very common, but are unfortunately not as easily treatable.  Last, organic headaches are some of the most uncommon, but have disastrous consequences.  They can be cause by blood clots and tumors and can often lead to vomiting and very intense pain that sets on quickly.  If you or a loved one is experiencing issues like this, make sure you contact a doctor immediately, as this may be a sign of another issue that goes beyond just a simple headache.

Natural Remedies and Relieving Stress

More often than not, headaches can often be caused or exacerbated by stress and too little sleep.  They can also be caused by coming off a certain drug or substance like caffeine or nicotine.

Because of this reasoning, lots of times headaches can be addressed by limiting stress, increasing relaxation, and regulating the substances that enter your body.

Accupressure is one of the most common ways of addressing headaches as this method directly interacts with the enflamed blood vessels that are culprits of the problem.  Using various methods, depending on the nature of your headache, you can simply rub away the headache or cause it to be less severe.

Aromatherapy also has the ability to lessen the severity of your headache or migraine.  Migraines often cause you to be sensitive to light and sound, so when dealing with one, sit in a dark or dim, quiet room and use aromatherapeutic candles that will calm down your stress.  When your blood pressure goes down, your blood vessels will naturally reverse their dilation, causing your migraine to lessen in severity.

Through the clever use of cayenne pepper, ginko biloba, and garlic, you can reduce headache severity (especially in cluster headaches).  These herbs also have a natural ability to help regulate blood flow and helps against the existence of blood clots and other major issues associated with headaches.

Make sure that you are well equipped by taking a supplement supporting a B vitamin complex.  B vitamins tend to help regulate stress and depression, which will have a direct affect on the severity or even the existence of your headaches.
