What exactly is Diabetes?
Diabetes is a condition in which the body’s natural blood sugar regulating systems are malfunctioning. There are several stages that diabetes can onset and hurt the patient’s means of keeping tabs on their blood glucose levels.
In the beginning of the first stages of this condition, the pancreas will begin to have problems injecting insulin into the blood stream. Insulin is the mechanism that the body uses to reduce the levels of sugar in the body. When the pancreas is able to produce less and less insulin, the sugar levels in the individual rise to unnatural and unhealthy heights. It is at this point when the patient often has to take “sugar pills”. These pills are obviously not sugar, but help regulate blood sugar. This medication, such as metformin, glyburide, and actos, essentially shocks the pancreas into action to produce the needed insulin.
In many cases, the pancreas fails altogether even after taking these pills. When this happens, the individual has to begin to administer insulin through injecting it under the skin. This synthetic insulin, such as lantus, novolin, and novolog, are injected through syringes or syringe like pens. This manually brings down blood sugar levels through a process known as bolusing.
Essentially, if blood sugar levels are too high and there is not enough insulin, the body cannot use that sugar, so the body will react by using sugar it thinks it can use by going after fat and muscle cells. This condition is known as ketoacidosis. This is a very serious condition, because it means that the body is now eating its own organs to sustain energy and regulate blood sugar. If this occurs, immediately check yourself into an emergency room as soon as possible.
How do we naturally deal with Diabetes?
The most natural way to making sure diabetes stays in check is to recognize the causes of this condition. Often times, this begins as a hereditary problem, and children even receive the condition early on. With knowledge about diabetes in your family, you have a fair shot at never getting it if you take the right steps to take care of your body, watch your diet, and get plenty of exercise.
Diet is one of the biggest reasons adults often get diabetes. Lots of “junk food” high in cholesterol and carbohydrates will often cause diabetes to set in because the pancreas constantly has to work over-time to keep up with the individual’s diet.
Make sure to eat wheat bread options as well as organic food as they tend to be lower in the wrong kinds of cholesterols and carbohydrates.
Olive leaves and ginko are stacked with excellent properties that naturally regulate blood sugar without “shocking” your pancreas to produce insulin. These are natural methods that help in the long run. This method should not be exclusively used if the patient is in Type II Diabetes, which is a synthetic insulin dependency.
Diabetes can be helped, if the individual watches the diet. Exercise naturally brings down blood sugar as it is burned up because of activity. Consider this when faced with the cost of actually buying insulin.
