Bladder Infections

Is this as serious as I think it is?

Most people will have some kind of a urinary tract infection within their lifetime if his or her lifestyle is not a healthy one.  Bladder Infections tend to be very much of a pain as it causes the individual who is infected with this problem to make frequent trips to the bathroom.  There can also be much lower back pain and the feeling of pain in the kidneys.  A Bladder Infection will affect over 4 million Americans this year, as this is a very common problem.  What happens during a bladder infection is that there has been a build up of unhealthy “bad” bacteria in the urinary tract and that simply urinating will not eject this bacterium as normally would happen.  More specifically, this bacterium can set in after sex or unprotected sex.  It is important to practice safe sex so that these issues do not occur.  This problem occurs mostly in women due to the anatomy being more suitable for this issue.

Another big thing to consider is that if left unchecked, this bladder infection can spread to the kidneys.  This could be a big problem and can carry with it some very difficult symptoms. It is very important to make sure that the moment you find these symptoms that you seek holistic healing and attention from a doctor or physician who practices natural remedies.  These symptoms can be fever, blood in the urine, lethargy, back pain, and even the development of other diseases because the kidneys cannot perform the task of expelling other toxins and harmful bacteria from the body. MD’s will prescribe antibiotics such as doxycycline, which will affect your production of probiotics and cause either diarrhea or constipation.

What should I do?

It is important to avoid coffee with artificial sweeteners, as well as trans-fats and food dyes.  These substances usually aggravate the bladder and often inflame the urinary tract.  Coffee is a natural diuretic, in which it causes the individual to urinate.  Unfortunately, while this may be a good thing if you were simply urinating filtered water, coffee is not good as it contains acids that are often harmful to the urinary tract itself.  Aromatherapy is an excellent way to take on this issue as it can directly be applied and has some very symptom lessening affects.  Take a bath with oils mixed in the water.  Some of these oils should consist of bergamot and chamomile.  These have very soothing properties and will greatly assist in taking on the infection.

Avoid foods that are rich in amino acids as these can cause an inflammation of the urinary tract.  Foods like bananas and chocolate are often high in these amino acids, so it is probably best that you avoid these foods for at least three weeks after the infection has passed, as not to aggravate your urinary tract and reinfect  it once more.

Make sure that you are drinking plenty of filtered water to flush out the problem.

It is also a very good idea to hold the urine as much as possible, because a total flushing of the bladder has the affect at expelling bacteria.
